Many great Wellington Basketball players have graced our courts over the years.

Their astounding exploits in the Intercity League, often against skilled National Rep and NBL superstars, have made them playground divinity or at least when they tell the story.

Over several decades, Intercity has grown to become a Wellington Basketball institution, offered as an annual basketball competition that attracts talent from the city and wider Wellington region.

Unknown players have been lighting it up for years as they express basketball as a freestyle art among their peers, and when you catch some of those highlights, it can be one of the great examples of sports theatre found in urban New Zealand.

Influenced by our people, music, fashion, NBA, and community spirit, Wellington Basketballers will find a home within this league and continue to etch the achievements of basketball’s greatest unknowns, a permanent place in our local game’s history books.
