After Day 2, Wellington based men's team Morehu-Easts is the only unbeaten team in the Men's Pool, considering they played back-to-back games so they could make the All Black-Springbok rugby game that evening!

In the Women's Pool, first place seedPorirua easily took care of business against 4th place Palmerston North (88-47) in the first semi-final while 3rd place Hutt Valley WMC did the same to 2nd place Porirua Boomtown Flyers (62-46) in the other semi-final.

Check out the updated Opens Premiership Zone 3 Results Day 2. It's the final day of the tournament tomorrow at South West Stadium, with the Women's final at 4:00pm.

Wellington Basketball Association in association with Basketball New Zealand is hosting BBNZ's Opens Premiership Zone 3 tournament 2010 at South West Stadium today. 11 teams from the Zone 3 region are vying to qualify for the National Championships also hosted by Wellington Basketball Association on 16-19 September 2010 at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua.

As always, past champions Wellington's Morehu Easts are looking to get back into that winning mode and win another Opens National Championship as they kick off their opening campaign against newcomers Porirua-Mana this morning.

Check out the Opens Premiership 2010 Zone 3 Draw. There should be some exciting matches so come on down and check it out at South West Stadium.

UNDER 13 AND 15 GIRLS FINAL TRIALS

On average, 25-30 Under 13 and Under 15 girls have been regularly trialing and training with Kenny McFadden (Head Coach) and Sezen Mercan every Sunday and Monday afternoons at South West Stadium. There is still a chance for other girls in the Wellington region to come down and attend the final trials this coming Sunday, 20th June 2010 at 3:30pm to 5:00pm make what could possibly be three teams for the Under 13's and maybe two teams for the Under 15's.

BBNZ Under 13 Premiership tournament will be held 23-25 July in Wellington with the Nationals being held in Christchurch on October 4-8. The Under 15 Premiership tournament will be held in Napier on 30 July-01 August and the Nationals will be held in Porirua on October 04-08.

UNDER 19 NATIONAL CHAMPS 2010

It's all on for the 2010 BBNZ UNDER 19 NATIONAL CHAMPS hosted by Wellington Basketball Association from Friday to Monday, 04-07 June 2010 (Queen's Birthday Weekend). As a result, the normal basketball activities over those four days will be cancelled.

That is:

 No College League on Friday night.
 No Intercity League on Saturday
 No Representative Team Training on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
 No Hoop Club sessions on Sunday
 No Winter League on Monday night.


All games will be at Wellington Basketball's South West Stadium (11 Hutchison Road, Mt Cook, Wellington) and at Wellington East Girls College (Austin St, Mt Victoria, Wellington) gymnasium. Check out the Under 19 Championship 2010 Draw to see where your local team are playing. Regular results can be found on Basketball New Zealand website or on Wellington Basketball Facebook page.

Wellington have both a Men's team coached by Kenny McFadden and a Women's team coached by Nola Taumoepeau, who are looking to engrave the hometown name on that championship trophy.

MONDAY NIGHT WINTER LEAGUE 2010 WEEK 4

Another week kicked off for Monday nights at Wellington Basketball Association's Mid-Week Winter League 2010, with the Men's A, B and D-Leagues. Run n Gun vs Wellington College was a high scoring affair, with a lot of highlight reels (Check out the video highlights).

INTERCITY 2010 WEEK 3

Week 3 kicked off for the Wellington Basketball Association's Intercity League 2010 on Saturday, 29 May 2010 at South West Stadium. Two teams head the top of the table in the Super-8 Men's - defending champions Morehu Five Star and All Stars who are both 3-0 for the season thus far. Defending Men's Premier Kapiti and up-coming Trentham are also 3-0 and head the top of the table.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WINTER LEAGUE 2010 WEEK 3

Week 3 kicked off for Wednesday nights at Wellington Basketball Association's Mid-Week Winter League 2010, predominantly for the Men's C-League with the odd D-League game. Phantom vs Wellington Fire Service proved to be the highlight game when Phantom were down by 1-point with only seconds to go. A deep knocked-down 3-point attempt from Phantom stole the game away from Fire Service who had lead throughout the game.
